Collection and Waste Transfer Notes

For all businesses, it is now a legal requirement (The Waste Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013) to dispose of your computers and electronic equipment legally with Waste Transfer notes to an Authorised Recycler.

By recycling your IT equipment with Jamie’s you will be reducing your carbon footprint and helping the local community.

We provide waste transfer notes approved by the Environment Agency and have a T11 exemption certificate as a fully registered waste facility. We also provide free data destruction certificates for businesses, however a charge of £10 applies to individuals.

We typically operate within a 50 mile (80KM) radius of Southampton.

Due to rising fuel and labour costs, we reserve the right to exclude free collections outside 50 miles due to it being uneconomically viable.

Therefore we have 2 alternative solutions:

a) For larger collections, we can arrange a pallet collection company to collect a pallet of goods that is wrapped properly and no higher than 2m. The fee is usually from £100.

b) For small items, we can email you a postage label for a fee of £15. The goods need to be wrapped and boxed properly and weigh no more than 25kgs. Then you can attach the label and drop the parcel off at your local post office. The parcel can be tracked back to our depot and we can then process the goods accordingly

Data Destruction

"Data Destruction is a key process at Jamies Computers and our Number 1 Priority”

Data Destruction & Certification

  • FREE to businesses
  • £10 to individuals

This allows the computer equipment to be refurbished and reused.

Our Technicians use Blancco 5 software to erase the data, the software then re-scans the hard disk to verify that the data destruction is complete and creates a test report that contains our refurb code, make/model and serial number of that hard disk.

Blancco provides thousands of organizations with an absolute line of defense against costly security breaches, as well as verification of regulatory compliance through a 100% tamper-proof audit trail.  Blancco has been tested, certified, approved and recommended by 18 governing bodies around the world, and erases to U.S. Department of Defense (Standard 5220.22-M) and  21 other standards, to meet security and regulatory compliance requirements.

We guarantee to physically destroy any hard drives that are faulty or that we cannot wipe.

We will produce a data destruction certificate for your records to show that all data destruction for your assets is complete.
